How the DeLand-Weldon Music Department Hit a High Note with Del's

Mt. Zion, IL – 4/6/2025 – Del’s Popcorn Shop is thrilled to mark another victory for a fantastic local organization. We successfully raised over $490 for the DeLand-Weldon Music Department, which will be used to support their unique and enriching student trip to Memphis, Tennessee.

“The DeLand-Weldon Music Department is a great example of a worthy cause. They met all the criteria for us as a long-term community partner,” explained Ellie Gross, the Del’s national sales manager. “We love these teams, and we love these kids. We are so happy we can play a part in their story.”

The DeLand-Weldon Music Department is home to an enthusiastic group of student musicians in grades 6 through 12. With their Concert Band, Advanced Chorus, and younger performers, the department brings music to life in their community through seasonal concerts, Christmas caroling, and a growing marching band program.

Every four years, high school students in the band or chorus get to experience a hands-on musical journey to Memphis, Tennessee. Their most recent trip included visits to iconic musical landmarks like Beale Street and Graceland—giving students both cultural enrichment and lasting memories. Funds raised through Del’s will help make future trips like this possible.

Del’s is a gourmet retail popcorn and confectionary based in Springfield, IL. Del’s was stitched into the fabric of Central Illinois at a time after the Great Depression and before World War II.
